okay wait this is really pissing me off. for the people who said that he should get 10 years in jail, no way. i think even thirty days is too much. what he did was not violation of privacy or even harassment, it was just simple childish behavior. our society is becoming too sensitive towards this kind of stuff. if i was paying around 12 thousand to dorm at Rutgers, and my dorm mate asked to bring a person over, hell yeah i am also putting a camera in. first of all i don’t know why Clamenti brought over a person to have sex with in public housing. what was he thinking? if you really want to engage in such acts, go to a hotel or to the persons house. i would never allow another person into my dorm that i do not know and is not paying to stay at that dorm. Also wtf is happening to our society? I got bullied for being Indian before when i was young and people said hurtful things but i never jumped off a cliff or complained? so is our community trying to say that things can only be taken seriously when someone is physically harmed? so the only way to get the people i bullied in serious trouble is to kill myself? i don’t think so. people really need to grow up. and come on guys, Ravi’s life is already ruined. he will never be able to live a normal life after this so idk what ten years in prison is going to do to him? and really just because Clamenti happened to kill himself, we start to become more aware towards the gay community? there are so many more victims of harassment in our history, so many other teens have committed suicide because they were teased but their bully never received this much attention? Ravi just happened to be the first one to be caught, and thus everyone is going crazy and making him the face of a typical bully. maybe its just that i am being sympathetic towards Ravi because he is indian, but still come on saying that he should receive a ten year sentence is going a bit to far..
HE WAS IN HIS ROOM. he didnt follow him into a hotel room or go outside of invading the privacy in his own room?? now dont get me wrong. what he did was stupid. RIDICULOUSLY stupid. as jim mcgreevey from CNN said, Ravi isn’t the only one to blame for clementi’s suicide, “Ravi isn’t the only one to blame for Clementi’s tragic suicide. McGreevy writes, “Homophobia was replete in Clementi’s government, church and culture, not just Ravi’s stupidity.” Maybe you should convict priests too.
SECOND. while all this bullshit on how ravi deserves 10 years there is the Divvendu Sinha murder. For those who havn’t heard, three 17-year-olds are accused of beating a New Jersey dad to death while he walked with his wife and two sons. BEATEN TO DEATH. for no motive. the just saw them walking and decided to beat him up. and the guy who drove the murderers to the scene is not getting convicted of ANYTHING. you’re telling me that he didn’t know they were going to beat this guy up? please. this guy was a 49 year old scientist walking with his family and he got MURDERED. yet, the guy driving who was white btw, gets nothing. its fucking racist and im sick of people saying shit like ‘ravi came from india to abuse the american educational system”. fuck that. his parents came here to get better jobs, they worked and paid probably more taxes than most people in new jersey pay. no ravi didnt deserve 10 years, and i don’t even think he deserved 30 days. people get bullied everyday, but if they don’t commit suicide, then it’s obviously not a big deal.
maybe people in new jersey will not be as ignorant towards all indians because there are so many here, but indians only represent less than 3% of all americans. in every other state, this is the biggest representation of indians in america. if their races were switched, do you think people would make that big of a deal? by the divvendu sinha murder, apparently not.
